Today I learned of a discovery of a 9th planet in our solar system. The planet is said to be a gas giant that is a similar size to Neptune.
It is nice to have 9 planets again after Pluto was demoted to dwarf planet a few years back. This 9th planet is so far away that it is very hard to see directly but we know it is there because its gravity is affecting other objects. I wonder if this planet has moons going around it. Perhaps it has a moon that is the same size as earth.
I remember reading an article stating that there could even be a second star in our solar system, a distant brown dwarf could be orbiting our star but it is so dim that it would be hard to find.
I wonder if there are many planets yet to to discover in our solar system because the sun's gravity can influence objects that are half way to the next star over 2 and a half light years away. Perhaps there and many planets in our solar system, who knows? There is so much to discover out there!
